Note that the bursary program will pay for tuition fees and books only, and the total amount it can cover is up to R50,000. Students who receive the bursary will be assigned a mentor and are encouraged to take part in IMESA activities.

The bursary money will be paid directly to the college or university within 60 days after IMESA gets the student’s account statement (as arranged with the student). Before the first bursary payment is made, students need to send IMESA Head Office proof that they are enrolled in the course and a medical certificate. Candidates who are successful will be informed by the end of 2024, after completing a full evaluation process, before the bursaries are granted.

Who Qualifies for the IMESA Bursary program?

Bursary Scheme A: For Students Not Yet IMESA Members

  • Applicants should have finished their first year of study.
  • In 2025, you must be starting your second year or beyond of study.
  • You need to be enrolled at a South African tertiary institution accredited by ECSA.

Bursary Scheme B: For IMESA Members’ Dependents

  • Applicant needs to be a child or dependent of an IMESA member who has been a member for at least 5 years.

  • Firstly, download and fill out the correct IMESA Bursary application form listed below:
    • Bursary Scheme A: IMESA Bursary application form for non-IMESA members.
