Fields and Expenses Covered by Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary South Africa 2025

The fellowship bursary will be given for undergraduate degree studies in the following fields, at a range of selected individuals.

  • Commerce
  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Humanities
  • Law
  • Health Science (Medicine, Dentistry, and Veterinary Science are excluded)
  • Science

The goal of the Fellowship Program is to nurture entrepreneurship in Fellows, ensuring that the Program inspires students to go for opportunities to create their own businesses. Candidates who are successful will be enrolled as Candidate Allen Gray Fellows. The bursary value will be determined by the student’s household income:

  • Students whose household has a total annual income of less than R1 million will receive full funding, which will cover tuition fees, university accommodation, and meals, book allowance, a general monthly allowance, tutoring sessions, and counseling services (ICAS).
  • Students from households with an annual income between R1 million and R1.5 million will get funding for tuition fees, university accommodation and meals, tutoring sessions, and counseling services (ICAS).
  • Students from a households with an annual income exceeding R1.5 million will be funded for tuition fees, tutoring sessions, and counseling services (ICAS).

Applicants who are shortlisted will be contacted and asked to attend an interview in July 2024. In September 2024, shortlisted applicants will receive an invitation to attend a Selection Camp.

Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary Eligibility Requirements

The following are the eligibility requirements for Allan Gray Orbis Fellowship Bursary:

  • Applicant must be a South African citizen.
  • The applicant must be younger than 21 in the year they apply.
  • You must be in Matric in 2025.
  • You must have scored at least 60% in Mathematics or at least 80% in Mathematical Literacy in your Grade 11 final results.
  • Applicants must have an overall average of at least 70% in their Grade 11 final results, excluding Life Orientation.
  • You must plan to pursue a degree in one of the fields listed in the above section.
  • Applicants must plan to study at one of the following partner institutions:
